About SHAK

The Society of Human Anatomy Kenya (SHAK) is the premier professional organization dedicated to advancing the study and practice of human anatomy in Kenya.

Our Story

Founded in 2010, the Society of Human Anatomy Kenya (SHAK) emerged from the collaborative vision of leading anatomists across Kenya’s medical schools. Recognizing the need for a dedicated professional body to advance anatomical sciences in the country, these pioneers established SHAK to foster excellence in anatomical education, research, and clinical practice.

Over the past decade, SHAK has grown from a small group of dedicated professionals to a thriving community of anatomists, researchers, educators, and healthcare practitioners. Our annual conferences have become landmark events in East Africa’s medical calendar, attracting participants from across the continent and beyond.

Today, SHAK stands as the authoritative voice for anatomical sciences in Kenya, working closely with educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and government bodies to uphold the highest standards in anatomical practice and education.
